Doctor Aphra comic #20: The Catastrophe Con, Part I by Si Spurrier
"Doctor Aphra #20: The Catastrophe Con, Part I" written by Si Spurrier, illustrated by Kev Walker, Marc Deering, and Java Tartaglia
This was a pretty straightforward issue with a ton of awesome world building with the new jail. We basically have Aphra being probed into telling her story of how her "hubdroid" (described below) malfunctioned. We also see 000 reacting very violently to the fact his memories have been irreversibly encrypted.
Our hero has now been in Accresker Jail for a week (see it pictured below). The jail is actually 80,000 tons of wrecked warships held together on a tow cable behind an Imperial capital ship. The inmates don't have cells and are fed and given weapons regularly by "hubdroids" that act like caretakers. The prisoners are used as their own legion against Rebels in battle--deploying straight from the jail itself into damaged Rebel ships.
Dek-Nil, the crazy droid who acts like their on acid, came back to save Aphra!!! But all does not end well...
Apparently Aphra's tattoos are electronic!!
Aphra makes a friend of Lopset Yas, a fellow prisoner and they hatch a second plan to escape. Aphra makes a call to the one and only...you'll just have to read to find out. I'm so excited to see where this goes!!!
