This issue sets us up nicely for the next story arc with the real plot not being revealed until the very end of the issue. I won't give it away here, but as much of a surprise as it was, I also saw it coming. I'll just say Queen Trios returns to lend a hand! I have high hopes for where this new plot line is going to take us...even though it echoes the most recent story line in the Poe Dameron comic. Hopefully they're not running out of ideas!
Leia, Han, Luke, C-3PO, R2-D2, and Admiral Ackbar go to Mon Cala to discuss Rebellion business with Grand Admiral Urtya of the Mon Cala Mercantile Fleet (he's in charge of Mon Cala while the king is in prison and happens to be of the polar variety of Mon Calamari like Raddus). And of course in the middle of their discussion, an Imperial patrol flies by and attacks...they just can't catch a break.
Leia implores Urtya that the Rebellion needs a fleet. And she says, "No more Alderaans. No more Jedhas. No more Scarifs." I love how this series continues to connect to Rogue One! Urtya even specifically mentions Raddus, saying that he chose to Rebel, but Urtya worries about the rest of Mon Cala if they do send a fleet. He doesn't want to sacrifice his people for the sake of the Rebellion. In talking to Ackbar, Urtya goes as far as to say, "The people trust me more than they are inspired by you." Oooh...that's a low blow.
A little later, as they are leaving Mon Cala and Leia is lovingly gazing at the Mon Cala fleet, she asks Han, "Don't you ever want something you just can't have?" And he looks like she's caught him in a tight spot...he already knows he loves her! And Chewie knows it, too.
The Mako-Ta Space Docks in the Outer Rim is the location of the Rebel Production Center and where Luke, Han, and Leia have made a home for the time being. It looks hot and barren and is all located in outer space--not a very pleasant place for a home.
The synopsis for the next issue was once again a call to join the Rebellion all propaganda-like. Which made sense for this issue because it was about recruiting the Mon Cala fleet, but I'm not sure how it ties into the future plot of this story arc. I guess we'll see...
