This book was an absolute delight!! It contains TONS of information, helping you relive Season 1 of "The Mandalorian" with more details than you would expect from a Level 2 reader. I was beyond impressed! While the focus is on the characters, hence the name "Allies & Enemies," there's still a good bit of story included to help the narrative flow right along. Brooke Vitale really knocked this one out of the park! Honestly, it's a great way to skim through Season 1 as a refresher even if you're an adult. But the little ones will really get a kick out of the easy to read story that provides more meat than most books of this kind. Oh!! And did I mention there are stickers?!?!? That's always a huge plus in my book! And the artwork is stellar!! Tomatofarm is apparently an Italian illustration agency so the credit is not given to specific people but to the agency as a whole, which is a bit disappointing because it is just SO good that the artists absolutely deserve their due.
The allies (although in some cases this is a loose term) include: Mandalorians in general, the Armorer, Greef Karga, Kuiil, IG-11, Cara Dune, Peli Motto, and Ranzar Malk. The enemies include: The Client, Dr. Pershing, Toro Calican, Xi'an, Qin, Moff Gideon. The two groups are not distinctly labeled or organized in any particular way. Instead, the narrative flow of the story is carried along by the introduction of each character throughout. And it really works quite well!
A couple of funny bits: 1) "IG-11 is not permitted to be caught. If captured, he must self-destruct."--I loved how well this joke landed amongst the fan base when it first happened! 2) "Although he does not speak, the Child makes friends easily. He likes playing by the water and eating frogs."--as if eating frogs makes it easier to make friends...lol
I highly recommend this book as it doesn't skimp on detail and really does paint a fairly full picture, especially for a Level 2 reader! It is most impressive. I'll leave you with a photo of the included stickers!!
