"IG-88: War of the Bounty Hunters: Born to Kill" by Rodney Barnes

Okay, so that was probably the most unnecessary of all the bounty hunter one shots. I felt like the others at least held some kind of consequence in their stories. This was simply IG-88 being rebuilt after his destruction at the hands of Vader, him being given a new directive to hunt down Boba Fett, and him failing again. But he doesn't end up destroyed this time, just momentarily vulnerable, and so he is able to run off and begin contemplating what his future life will look like. So I guess it sort of kind of had a point??--showing us that IG-88 is not dead after all and most likely will reappear in future stories. So how and why does all this happen? RB-919 is a cyborg who recommissions destroyed droids and he finds IG-88's divvied up body, ready to do what he does best...with the bonus of a hefty reward. Deva Lompop has hired him to restore IG-88 so he can be sent after Boba Fett. The vast majority of this issue is just RB-919 thinking about IG-88, regaling his exploits to the reader, all the while praising him for being a droid without inhibitions. ...well...that is until IG-88 straight up kills the cyborg and the narrative shifts to focusing on IG-88's own thoughts through the rest of the issue.
That's really it...like I said, quite unnecessary. The gist is simply the fall, rise, fall of a droid free of societal restraints.
There were some pretty great panels though:
