Darth Vader comic #16: Burning Seas, Part IV by Charles Soule
"Darth Vader #16: Burning Seas, Part IV" written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Daniele Orlandini, Java Tartaglia, and Guru-eFX
Wow! This was a truly wonderful issue with canon connections abounding. We get backstory, prequel connections, other comic connections, and Raddus is still kicking butt. I can't say enough about how this issue had me going!
Ferren Barr's acolytes and him escape on these awesome underwater Sea-Doo type vehicles only to end up blocked in by the Inquisitors and Vader. As each of the acolytes gives up their life in the escape, we get a flashback to what led them to Master Barr in the first place. They all have commendable stories and want to see the Empire brought to its knees. Not so sure that any of them actually have the Force though...interesting. Master Barr doesn't seem concerned at all for the acolytes he's losing, no respect for them sacrificing themselves...not so sure I like him all that much.
Admiral Raddus is fiery! He's loving the battle and Tarkin himself calls Raddus's tactic brilliant. I can definitely see why he was so quick to be there at the Battle of Scarif!
Tarkin tasks Vader away from the Jedi and toward capturing King Lee Char. He gracefully does so so as to not have Vader feel he is being usurped. The interplay between Tarkin and Vader is fantastic and truly shows how they are equals.
One of the acolytes had been saved by Anakin in the past!!
Prosset Dibs is one of the Inqusitors!!! Remember him from the Mace Windu short run series? He was the one who questioned the Jedi's goals in going to that Separtist-occupied planet! Turns out he was never re-conditioned to be a Jedi...
OMG!!!! Ferren Barr realizes the death trooper squad with the Inquisitors are still clones and that they can be manipulated with Order 66 against the once-Jedi Inquisitors! Holy Crap what an awesome move! I can't wait to see how this plays out...
