This issue held a lot of mystery, a lot of surprise, and even some unexpected mutual flirtation between Aphra and Sana!! It was a crazy issue with tons going on and I can't wait to find out what happens from here! And although strange, the cover art is actually quite apt, Domina Tagge does in fact have control of Just Lucky, Aphra, and Sana...but Crimson Dawn lies beneath it all...Last issue, we had Aphra using the Thought Dowser and it royally messing with her tattoos...nearly frying her arm off!! Aphra and Sana managed to escape Jekara, but Ariole and Just Lucky were left behind to face the consequences of their "bad" behavior.
We start off with Lady Domina Tagge interrogating a poor woman--Sira Folsomn--who chose to defy her by secretly working for Crimson Dawn. Needless to say, Lady Domina stabs Sira literally in the back.
Then we're on Corellia where Aphra is trying to get her electro-tattoos fixed by Murl, a Toydarian (see below). Unfortunately, they are seemingly far beyond repair. Walking away from Murl's office, Sana and Aphra discuss what to do about the situation. Aphra is scared to say anything to Domina Tagge because she doesn't want to be killed...I feel that, Lady Domina is terrifying! Sana says that since Domina is using her, why not use Domina? And here's the first flirtatious bit: Aphra-"You're starting to sound like me." Sana-"It was inevitable. You're my favorite manipulative monster." D'awww!!! I love it, but I REALLY loved Aphra with Tolvan. Despite Sana being a big part of Aphra's romantic past, I kinda hope they don't get back together.
Back on Canto Bight, Just Lucky and Ariole are at odds again. Just Lucky tells Wen Delphis, the spider-y leader of the Sixth Kin (see below), that he and Ariole killed their old mentor, Gallin Crae, just like ordered. But apparently Ariole told a different story before Just Lucky got there...and Just Lucky's brother Pak is nowhere to be found... There's also some unrequited love entanglements going on here with Just Lucky saying, "Ariole's only in it for himself. And we both know he'd love to take me down. He's never gotten over that broken heart." I'd love to know more about their past!
We also get a flashback to Jekara where the Crimson Dawn auction was held and Aphra/Sana left Just Lucky/Ariole behind with no ship. Turns out the two men were stopped by Gallin Crae, Deathstick, and Qi'ra herself, the latter asking for them to come discuss matters with her...could the two be working for Crimson Dawn now?!?!?
Then we get to Aphra and Sana's meeting with Lady Domina post-auction. She's actually quite pleased that Aphra managed to steal the necklace from the Black Sun operative turned Crimson Dawn operative. Lady Domina-"Good job. You did very well." Aphra-"No one's ever told me I did a good job before." SO FREAKING CUTE AND I TOTALLY GET HER!! Sana-"Don't be weird about it." See Aphra being all cutesy about it below. Domina even agrees to fix and upgrade Aphra's electro-tattoos!!! But also sets her and Sana on a mission to find more Ascendant artifacts like the Thought Dowser which destroyed the tattoos in the first place. Sounds uber-dangerous to me!!!
Aphra and Sana head off to Coruscant to do some digging on the Ascendant and we get another flirtatious moment: Sana-"I really wish breaking and entering wasn't your idea of a good time." Aphra-"And you say I don't take you anywhere nice." They have come to locate Tase Somer, the Coruscant Museum's head curator, who ends up being creepy as heck. Here's where the first big surprise happens--and it's a very vividly visual one. *shiver* And it's followed by a second potential surprise, but looks like we'll have to wait until next issue to see if the object that comes out of Tase's sleeve is what it looks like...
Then the final big surprise happens and wow is it a doozy!!! I cannot wait to see how all the bad situations in play right now move forward!
