Age of Republic: Count Dooku: "The Cost" by Jody Houser

Age of Republic: Count Dooku: "The Cost" written by Jody Houser, illustrated by Luke Ross and Java Tartaglia
What an issue! I very much so enjoyed this one and was pleased to get a story before the appearance of Dooku in the films. Wookieepedia places this issue after the Obi-Wan and Anakin mini comic series and before Attack of the Clones. Now I desperately want to know how he came to be a Sith in the first place and why the Jedi were so okay with him just disappearing from the order (as is shown to be the case here).
My only problem with this issue is the name: "The Cost" -- I have a few ideas as to what this could be referring to (don't want to give anything away), but whatever it is, it is certainly not clear. Hmmm...
Dooku shows his noble, gentlemanly side until...he doesn't and everything goes to hell for one person but goes oh so right for him. Sidious makes an appearance in hologram, pushing Dooku to do what he must for the Sith and Dooku is at his every beck and call, ever the Sith apprentice. Interesting how he takes to the role of young-learner so easily after having been a master for so long!
This comic takes place on Sullust!! We get to see in a visual format what the planet's cities look like and it ties in perfectly well with what I imagined from Battlefront: Twilight Company! So cool. See the image below for a taste.
Representative Kap Klyp of the Sorosuub Corporation meets with Dooku when he arrives and gives him a tour of the city. Klyp seems incredibly nervous and shifty during their whole interaction...odd. I wonder what the deal is with him. Pity, the reader never really finds out why he was so jittery the whole time. I wanna know!
A new species of tiger-like sentient makes an appearance--Jedi Knight Jak'Zin (see image below), stumbling into Dooku and being very cagey about his mission from the council. Dooku eventually coaxes out of him that he is after the Kaldana Syndicate (remember them from Most Wanted?? They were the group that lost out to the Droid Gotra for the auction with the Engineer. Qi'ra and Han both seemed to fear them a great deal.) We then get to see both current and former Jedi in action against said syndicate.
Trivia: Apparently Dooku had a blue lightsaber when he was a Jedi.
This issue has intrigue, action, new species, great visuals, and very interesting characters. It was quite well-rounded and gave me some solid insight into Count Dooku...leaving me wanting for more. I call that a win in my book! Now I'm aching for the next villain release! Can't wait to read General Grievous' issue!!! Personally, I think this series has gotten better and better as it's progressed and I have been so thankful to get all this wonderful prequel content. So yay for that!
