Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu comic #3 by Matt Owens

"Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu #3" written by Matt Owens, illustrated by Denys Cowan, Roberto Poggi, and Guru-eFX
Another exciting entry into this short-run comic series!
This issue opens up with a meeting between General Grievous and AD-W4 - their first meeting and how the latter got hired on to help out at Hissrich. AD-W4 throws out a great quip against the Separatist battle droids - "37-percent-kill-rate-at-best military drones." And dang AD-W4 is intense. He retells a story of just how ruthless he is and it definitely caught me off guard. Grievous spouts an awesome quip on the Jedi - "annoyances of a more self-righteous nature." Apparently the money meets AD-W4's demanding desire as he immediately accepts Grievous' offer.
Then we're back in the present in the midst of the battle between the Jedi and the Separatists. Windu and Rissa fight droids on the surface while Fisto and Prosset battle a beast underground. AD-W4 tells Grievous he's killed Windu - haha, that's funny - and Grievous demands his lightsaber as proof. It's then back to the drawing board for AD-W4 as he sets all the droids to begin the search for the Jedi.
There's so much in this issue I want to recount, but I don't want to give it all away! Much of the dialogue was spectacular and the story moved along at a quick pace. There are so many surprises in this issue, I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout.
The only problem I had was with following some of the imagery. I had to repeat look at frames to understand what was going on some of the time and even then didn't have a clear picture. Upsetting for what is such a superbly written series.
Waxing poetic about the Jedi's involvement in the war has definitely taken a back seat to the action in this series. Except for where Prosset is concerned. He ends up becoming severely disillusioned with the Jedi's intentions in coming to Hissrich and lashes out...to what end?...have to wait for the next issue.
