Poe Dameron comic #30: The Awakening, Part V by Charles Soule
"Poe Dameron #30: The Awakening, Part V" written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Angel Unzueta and Arif Prianto
OMG!! The way this ended had my hand over my mouth saying just that...I don't know how this is going to turn out in the positive but from the synopsis of the next issue, it looks like it just might.
We rejoin Black Squadron as they head to the Mid-Rim Planet of Ikkrukk. At this point the Battle of Crait has already started...of course unbeknownst to them. A distress call is being sent from Grail City where the First Order has made contact and declared the planet theirs. Looks like we might have some allies in the making as the beings of Ikkrukk said, "No" to the First Order!! The species isn't named but they appear to be indigenous to Ikkrukk--big eyes, two bulbous lumps on their heads, long flowing hair, and cat-like noses. The leader's name is Grist.
We end up with three X-wings and an A-wing against a whole battalion of TIE fighters and a heavy cruiser called the Fortitude. The Ikkrukk defense system is down and Jess Pava is the only one who can get it working again. But will she and Suralinda make it down in time to save the day?? I have no idea!! Things are looking bad...
Wow! This series continues to surprise me. I LOVE that we're getting deeper insight into what else was going on during The Last Jedi as well as after. So much good information to feed my hunger before IX comes out!! Can't wait to see where we go from here!
