Age of Republic comic: Jango Fett: "Training" by Jody Houser
Age of Republic: Jango Fett: "Training" written by Jody Houser, illustrated by Luke Ross and Java Tartaglia
This issue is adorable!!! If not super twisted. Jango and Boba have a father-son training session whilst collaborating with a trio of other bounty hunters. Some bad stuff goes down and Boba comes out on top with Jango saying, "You've started building your reputation. A father couldn't ask for a better start to his son's legacy." I don't know whether to go "awww" or maintain a look of horror on my face...okay, that list bit had me "awww"ing…but what kind of person does that make me???
We start on the planet Telerath where we meet Neelda the Rodian, Tiver the Chadra-Fan and Rinn the Gand, all bounty hunters hired by a rich client to find a runaway. See the trio pictured below. They're waiting on Jango Fett to show up in the cantina and when he finally does, he has little Boba at his side!!
Then we travel back in time to the Moons of Bogden when Tyrannus approached Jango about the clone army job! It's so weird hearing Count Dooku talk up a grand army of the Republic like it's a good thing... And another point, I'd never really thought about this but if Boba is an unaltered clone, that means that Tyrannus must have approached Jango years before Attack of the Clones...how long was Tyrannus in the works? Was it even before Maul got cut in half? My mind is boggled.
Ord Mantell is where they find the runaway Twi'lek and her boyfriend who has connections to Black Sun. Everything seems to be going as planned until the tables get turned!
As stated above, this really was a cute story. I loved seeing Jango carry out his role as a father and getting a deeper glimpse into what makes him tick as a person. He's surprisingly caring and loving toward his son and it speaks volumes about his character. I'm most definitely intrigued and now want to know more about his past! Despite being a super notorious bounty hunter, what made him such a good father???
The next issue--the special--looks to be really interesting with 4 separate stories! Including one about Jar Jar!!!! I'm stoked.
One last thing...a super cool image of Rodian suction-cup fingers!!!
