Star Wars: Resistance - Episode 18 - "The Disappeared"
Star Wars: Resistance - Episode 18 - "The Disappeared" written by Steven Melching, directed by Sergio Paez
I quite liked this episode as it showed the true malevolence of the First Order with them kidnapping dissidents and pretending that they had just left on peaceful terms--lying to the general public about where everyone is disappearing to. Hype Fazon, Aunt Z, and the Aleena guy are three of the four people taken prisoner. They're kept in a cargo crate until it's time to ship them off to who knows where!
Some people like Tam are still all for the presence of the First Order. As she puts it, "Sometimes there have to be sacrifices to maintain order and safety." Even after that episode where Kaz pretended to be a trooper, she still doesn't see the First Order as bad news!! She must really have Imperial loyalty running deeply through her veins. I'm wondering if the destruction of Hosnian Prime will change her mind or if she'll still be a super loyalist???
So, I usually don't give away the endings of episodes or books, but for this one I have to give away part of it because it is just so good!!! Aunt Z says she knows someone on Takodana who can help out the prisoners!!! Kaz and Torra help the prisoners escape in the shuttle without the First Order (they successfully bring down the troopers set to leave with the prisoners and it is a beautiful fight scene!) so they can go to Takodana and seek help! I wonder if that means Maz could even make an appearance on this show! How cool would that be?
I LOVE that Captain Doza doesn't prevent his daughter from helping her friends in need. Yeager and Doza okay and even encourage Torra and Kaz to go save them! That's not something I would've expected from an overprotective father. I guess Doza finally realized that his approval of the First Order on the Colossus was a very bad idea. And Torra has shown that she's a very capable and strong (both physically and mentally) young woman. The prisoners aid in their own escape and check out the image above of Aunt Z laying the smack down on some troopers! It is pure beauty and her yell of rage and attack is awesome! Even Hype gets up the guts to aid in the attack, poor thing...he's kind of a wimp haha.
I'll be intrigued to see where the next episode, "Descent", takes us! Will we finally see Hux's speech and the destruction of Hosnian Prime?? Or are there still more shenanigans to be had before that fateful day? I guess it would make sense for at least some time to pass between BB-8 leaving with Poe and Poe finding Lor San Tekka as well as between that time and Hux's speech. I would love to know a specific timeline of events for everything that is taking place at this point!! Like I want to know a to-the-day timeline...but that's just my love for details and specifics shining through.
In summary, a very one-note and highly focused episode, but with some interesting story and super exciting potential set-up for the future! And OMG!!! The ending ending is...well...oh no!!! Suffice it to say, things are heating up and getting good for sure.
