"The Bad Batch Ep. 10: Common Ground"
"The Bad Batch Ep. 10: Common Ground" written by Gursimran Sandhu, directed by Saul Ruiz
Raxus!!! The capital of the Confederacy of Independent Systems reappears!!! And being post-Empire creation, the whole situation is fascinating. Avi Singh (see below with his droid GS-8) is a Raxus senator who has been coerced by the Empire to convince his people to be loyal to the new regime. But he has a change of heart in front of a huge crowd of Raxus inhabitants and gets carted off to jail (see the Imperial army swooping in on the planet's citizens above). The Bad Batch's mission? Rescue this former Separatist from the clutches of the new Empire!! Truly an intriguing match up between eras.Unfortunately for Omega, the Batch leaves her behind with Cid for the duration of this mission and goodness does this bring the poor girl down into the dumps. Cid is no help at all in easing Omega's troubled mind. By pure stroke of luck, Cid discovers that Omega is great at playing dejarik. Omega says it's because it's a strategy game and she's always been good at strategy. Maybe that's her unique talent?? If so, I like it!
Overall, the episode is fairly serious. But luckily there's GS-8 (see above with her master Avi Singh), Avi Singh's droid to liven the mood. She's a protocol droid who is extremely loyal to her master. And she is bound and determined to rescue him, even getting excited at the prospect of being a distraction...like actually walking into danger. It's a mirror to 3PO and I love it!
Something interesting I noticed in this episode was that the Bad Batch only fire stun blasts at clones...they do not kill their fellow brothers. It's like an unspoken code...unless I missed the episode where they discussed what their intentions would be with Imperial soldiers. I wonder how their mindset changes with the addition of recruits in place of clones...
So another great episode!!! Super excited to see what we get tomorrow!
