"The Bad Batch Ep. 12: Rescue on Ryloth"

"The Bad Batch Ep. 12: Rescue on Ryloth" written by Jennifer Corbett, directed by Nathaniel Villanueva

This was another fantastic episode--full of action, full of heart, full of surprises, and full of connections! Such a fun combination. I am beyond hooked and am going to be so sad when that last episode comes around. Who knows if there will be a second season... *tear*

Being on Ryloth and with the way last episode ended, Hera and Chopper again play a big role. And OMG I love having Chopper around again SO much!! (Check out the cranky droid in action below!) Hera through holomessage easily sways Omega to do everything she can to convince her brothers that they need to help Hera save Cham and Eleni--thus begins this week's mission. Cham and Eleni, Hera's parents, are being held captive by Imperial Vice Admiral Rampart, and Hera comes up with a plan to attack the refinery on the outskirts of Lessu (the capital city of Ryloth) as a diversion while Hunter and Echo make a rescue! Before Hera presents her strategically sound plan, Hunter rejects the mission simply because Cham and Eleni were too well protected. It's Omega who supports and uplifts Hera into coming up with the refinery plan. Such an adorable and heartfelt synergistic interaction between these two young and inspirational women. At one point, Omega even convinces Hera to help her steal an Imperial shuttle and finally fly...which leads to some hysterical comments from Tech. "Yes, your dangerous and uncontrolled maneuvering is as confusing to them as it is to us." Freaking love it!

The mission goes wonderfully well...with the help of Howzer!!! Yes, the Order-66ed clone with a heart who led me to so many questions last week. ...or maybe he avoided Order 66? I want to know more about this guy so much! At the end of the episode, he even gives a speech to the numerous clones sent to intercept the escaping Cham and crew and inspires multiple other clones to throw down their arms as well!!! (See Howzer right after he threw down his weapon below!) This opens up so many possibilities and I'll be intrigued to see if there will be other clone uprisings, which clones will rebel, and what in the world happens to these clones.

We end with a quote from Cham that just might smooth over my issue with the Cham we got in the beginning of last week's episode. "I hoped to have fought my last war, but our people need us now more than ever. We must organize." I think what still has me a bit skeptical is that Cham has always been Ryloth-first. To give in so easily to another larger power just for peace really doesn't sound like him at all. But I'll accept that this strange change of heart was very short lived and that now he's ready to be the Cham we know and love!

Trivia:

-Tech teaches Hera how to scramble a ship's signature!! Cool to know where she learned that maneuver. And I love that it's from one of the Bad Batch!

So many things happening and all of it plays together so well! I can't say enough about how impressed I am with the way this show has gone so far!
