Poe Dameron comic Annual #2 by Jody Houser
"Poe Dameron Annual #2" written by Jody Houser, illustrated by Andrea Broccardo and Stefani Renee
This issue takes place directly after the first Poe Dameron Annual comic and right before the Lor San Tekka in Cato Nemoidian prison story arc.
I really hate to say this, but...Yikes! The artistry in this one is way off--the characters look like bad caricatures of themselves. Leia, Poe, and Han all look so off...actually ALL the characters...ugh. But 3PO looks normal at least...and the cover is beautiful...
Fortunately, the story is fantastic! Spoilers await.
C-3PO puts Poe on a mission to obtain an ancient data archive from a Kudon trader named Mek Nu'Tiv (she looks Zygerrian though, weird). Apparently the archives might contain data for a superweapon...couldn't be Starkiller Base since we're so close to the Battle at Starkiller Base confrontation at this point in the comic series. Curious...
Han and Chewie are at the Fluzhi Clan Shipyards stealing a First Order ship from the gang...turns out they're on the same mission Leia has put Black Squadron on!! How is this going to turn out??
Well, Han does the noble thing and makes sure that Black Squadron gets away with the archive, even blowing away some of Mek Nu'Tiv's crew in the process, never revealing his and Chewie's part in letting Black Squadron escape.
It's not a superweapon...it's something far better. So awesome!!!!
Overall this was a nice little side story and I loved the fact that Han was able to play the unsung hero! But I absolutely cannot wait for the resolution of this series which is the issue coming out next!! Will Black Squadron recruit a system or two to their cause? Will Jess and Suralinda make it out alive?? Answers are coming soon!
