This was a great little book with some surprising insights!! We again (like in the little golden book) get images that haven't been shown before and some new information!! The text is all very straightforward and perfect for any beginning reader so I highly recommend this to those of you with children who are starting out on their reading journey. Probably the most difficult word in the book is "Resistance."
Surprisingly enough though, this one doesn't have a glossary like most beginner readers do, defining such things as Resistance and First Order and Empire. But honestly, the whole book is a definition of what the Resistance is and who it is composed of and how these beings are good individuals fighting on the side of justice and freedom. And the words "evil" and "dark" are used quite frequently to describe both the First Order and the Empire so I guess it's all fairly self-explanatory.
Plus, we get 2 pages of stickers!!!! Now they aren't super creative or anything but hey, they're stickers, so can you really complain?
One quote that I don't know how I feel about as a 3PO stan is the following, "R2-D2 and C-3PO are droids. R2-D2 is brave. C-3PO is not. But together, R2-D2 and C-3PO make a good team." I guess the overall idea of the quote is good and 3PO is a worry wart, but I think he's brave in his own unique way.
So, on to new information!!!
We learn there is something special about Poe's new X-wing!! We know that the black coloring of Black One (Poe's old ship) was to baffle scanners, so what in the world might be special about the orange?? Or is something else unique about this new ship?
We learn that Jannah comes from an ocean moon and will lead "a group of brave warriors." Very interesting! I'm super curious as to what this ocean moon is and what kind of brave warriors these people are. Are they a culture? Are they mercenaries? Are they freedom fighters? Can't wait to find out!
We learn that Rey practices using a lightsaber with BB-8! The image below shows her training with remotes with BB-8 at her side. I wonder what his role is in her Jedi development...
And finally, I'll leave you with an illustration showing the whole crew together on that jungle planet we've seen several times. Everyone that we are already familiar with is there: Finn, Poe, Rey, Rose, Chewie, Leia, R2, 3PO, BB-8, and...a porg! Porgs are actually featured several times in this book so I wonder if they will make it into the movie after all...
