Resistance: Season 2: Episode 10: "Kaz's Curse"
Resistance: Season 2: Episode 10: "Kaz's Curse" written by Eugene Son, directed by Brad Rau
What a weird episode. It was basically normal klutzy Kaz but on steroids with the added component of flying through Guavian Death Gang space. Leoz, one of Kragan Gorr's pirate underlings, places a "curse" on the boy after he wins everyone's credits at a dice game. Neeku is convinced the curse is real, but Kaz doesn't believe...until a lot of bad stuff just keeps on happening (check out the picture of poor Kaz with a bucket stuck on his foot and multiple gorgs biting him haha!).
Besides the curse, the main crux of the episode is, as mentioned above, being in Guavian Death space, as they call it, and the fastest way out is through an asteroid field. Hype, Torra, and Kaz are sent out to scout the field as the bigger ship starts its slow but sure journey. Unfortunately, Kaz's "curse" causes all hell to break loose in the Fireball and he's spotted by a Guavian scout leading the Death Gang to attack!! Check out one of their pretty awesome ships below.
One of my favorite lines is from Grevel, the Colossus Aleena,--"What a Gorg Face. A real Moof Milker!" in response to Kaz being so torn up about the "curse" and begging to have it removed by Leoz. This is what makes me think the curse was just something meant to scare Kaz away from winning anymroe of their money.
Mika Grey makes another appearance (remember the woman with a super cool character design from "Relic Raiders" a few episodes back?). I'm really glad they've continued that through line and that we see her interacting with people on the Colossus. This show has actually done a really good job of continuing to show newly introduced characters in ongoing episodes so that everything seems more realistic. I'm quite impressed. Mika seems to have gained a kind of witch/fortuneteller persona as she takes people's credits in return for telling their futures. Interesting for an archaeologist... I wonder if it means anything???
That's really it. Kaz being super clumsy and the Guavian Death Gang finding the Colossus in their
space. I'm sure the kids loved this episode because it was honestly pretty dang funny. But overall, it seems skippable unfortunately. Not sure it will have much tie in to any future episodes. Regardless, I'm definitely looking forward to what comes next!!
