Chewie and the Porgs by Kevin Shinick

Chewie and the Porgs written by Kevin Shinick, illustrated by Fiona Hsieh
This book is precious!! Precious I say!! Definitely a goodie for any young Star Wars fan.
Chewie is on a mission...to find food... The whole book is basically about Chewie being super hungry and desiring only to find something to curb his hunger. We see him try a variety of different methods for obtaining said food but always to no avail. And the entire time, the porgs are making his mission all the more difficult. They keep getting in the way and even end up in his Ewok-inspired trap! But all is not lost, Chewie finally discovers why the porgs have been bothering him so much and feels terrible for his hand in their tragedy. He then finds what he was looking for and befriends the porgs to the point that both are teary-eyed when he sets off to leave Ahch-To. D'awww.
This book of course leaves out the scene in The Last Jedi in which Chewie roasts a porg...that would be a bit too much for the little ones to have to witness all over again in a written format. But I can assume that scene takes place a few pages in, right after his stomach starts growling monstrously. Because from then on out, he avoids even the thought of eating the porgs when they keep making a mess of his attempts to find food.
The illustrations are delightful and pulled me in to the adorable story all the more.
This book is a fun ride that I would absolutely recommend to anyone with a Padawan in the household or anyone looking for a cute side venture within The Last Jedi. Gotta have something to lift up the spirits amidst such a dark tale.
