Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu comic #5 by Matt Owens

A wonderful end to this exciting short-run series. This issue was a super quick read that had me enthralled consistently. It was both deep and action-packed, well worth the read.
Kit Fisto recounts an interesting beast that resides on his homeworld of Glee Anselm. He likens it's subtle hunting methods to him being the fangs of the beast that already has the droids in its clutches. And man, does he look scary when he's saying all this. He can look so cute (my Funko POP of him is precious), but he really has his rage face on here--see below!
Mace makes good work of AD-W4, but then the cargo shipment of energy shoots away. The Separatists seem to have won. But have they?
AD-W4 comments that he believes Mace a hypocrite, who in fact loves being a general and therefore a weapon, a position for which he can let out his anger and need for violence. I certainly wouldn't disagree with this point... Then Mace makes this interesting statement, "There is definitive right and there is wrong. Good and evil." Didn't Obi-Wan tell Anakin in Revenge of the Sith that only the Sith deal in absolutes? Hmmm...
With the mission wrapped up, the Jedi return to Coruscant where Prosset Dibs stands trail for his insubordination. His punishment comes as a big surprise...and it's kind of funny.
I truly hope they do more of these Jedi of the Republic short run series. It was so enjoyable to get a deeper look into Mace Windu, who in the movies and Clone Wars just seems constantly ready for a fight. But it turns out there is so much more to him and he understands the conflict within the Jedi brought on by the Clone Wars seemingly more than anyone. He also knows that the fight is going to get worse and that the Jedi must stand ready and trust in the Force if they are to have any chance at all.
     A fantastic read!
