Poe Dameron comic #29: The Awakening, Part IV by Charles Soule

"Poe Dameron #29: The Awakening, Part IV" written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Angel Unzueta and Arif Prianto
An exciting issue that delved directly into what Black Squadron was up to during The Last Jedi, I enjoyed this one quite a bit...although it left my skin crawling. King Siroc is most certainly not to be trusted and the Resistance appears to be doomed!
We start with BB-8 replaying a transmission to Poe that C-3PO had received from Jess Pava of Black Squadron in regards to their mission to find new allies during the events of Last Jedi. The transmission doesn't look to be a positive one and Poe is most definitely worried.
Snap Wexley steps in as Black Leader on this latest mission! And Suralinda is flying with Black Squadron!! How awesome?! Jess even has an astromech that she somehow convinced to fly with her...things seem to be looking up...
The Outer Rim planet of Pastoria is where most of the issue takes place. Apparently they had fuel reserves the Resistance could use and their leader, King Siroc, was influential. Leia assumed other planets would follow his lead if he fell in with the Resistance. Pastoria is also quite beautiful according to Jess. It's hard to tell this from the provided illustrations unfortunately, although it looks like it could be beautiful...
The Pastorians are bug-like creatures similar to the Geonosians! They even have wings and the king wraps his around his body like a robe--really cool looking as they're golden. The biggest difference is they have more bulbous heads and more prominent abdomens. The depiction of this new species was brilliant and fascinating--see picture to the left.
King Siroc has a really disturbing surprise up his sleeve that left me speechless and unnerved. Black Squadron's mission is not looking all that great after all...
Where will this journey take us?? I can't wait to find out!!
