Star Wars: The Last Jedi comic #1 by Gary Whitta

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi #1" written by Gary Whitta, illustrated by Michael Walsh and Mike Spicer
So, good things and bad things. I know they have to leave some stuff out because it's a comic book adaptation and there's only so much space, but they left out the whole scene with Hux and Poe chatting hilariously over the comm. I really missed that part!! But then they did add some cool scenes with Luke, so we get more into his head than we did in the movie itself.
We begin with Luke saying a secret he was never taught and his final lesson to himself as a Jedi is that it is far more difficult to block the Force out than to let it in. How sad he felt the need to completely block the Force out of his life. And we later find out Luke realizes he would've felt the death of Han if he hadn't been blocking out the Force!! How tragic *tear*.
The dreadnought Poe attacked in the beginning of the movie is called the Fulminatrix and is commanded by Captain Canady. Paige's Cobalt Squadron bomber is named Hammer.
Luke thinks of Rey as "a child with a worthless antique and delusions of grandeur." Again, so sad he sees his father's saber as worthless and Rey, a girl with hope and a mission, as having delusions of grandeur...especially when he used to be the same! A cocksure, farmboy ready to take on the galaxy.
I'm so glad we get more of Luke's thoughts and feelings in this adaptation! I can't wait to read the novelization to hopefully get even more. Looking forward to seeing what other tidbits they give us in the next issue of this series.
