Darth Vader comic #23: Fortress Vader, Part V by Charles Soule

"Darth Vader #23: Fortress Vader, Part V" written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Daniele Orlandini, David Curiel, and Dono Sanchez-Almara
This issue was quite short and felt lacking in deep substance. The plot's concept didn't work for me as a whole although there were definitely parts that were super cool!
I'm a little confused because at the end of several issues back, we got the image of Vader's final castle design drawn by a person hosting Lord Momin's mask. Then in this issue we go all the way through 9 designs of the castle leading us to that final design we saw already several issues back. I really don't understand why Momin would stray to other designs when he had already come up with this one from the get go. So basically the whole premise of this issue just doesn't work for me. I mean it's kind of funny what with Momin constantly saying, "the nth design will work!" but the premise itself falls flat.
We do see a number of Mustafarians preparing for battle against Vader and his new fortress. They talk of the endfire rising up and the lifefire waning. I'd be interested to know more about what exactly these things mean.
I think the most intriguing parts of the entire issue were Vader's attempts to open a doorway of some sort, presumably to re-awaken Padme from death!! See his dark side chamber below (in one of its earlier configurations). Every time he begins to open the doorway, destruction rains down and all hell breaks loose until the 9th design when everything finally intermeshes and the source of power is successfully channeled. But will Vader get to Padme?? Or will Momin use the doorway for his own devices??
Regardless of this issue being kind of a miss, I'm super excited to see what happens from here! Looking forward to the final two issues of this series!
