Star Wars: Resistance - Episode 8 - "Synara's Score"

Star Wars: Resistance - Episode 8 - "Synara's Score" written by Gavin Hignight, directed by Bosco Ng
An intriguing episode with some high stakes which was refreshing. The Colossus is under attack by pirates after the Aces leave the platform to escort a supply shipment. The turbolaser targeting computers are down and it's up to Yeager's crew to get the computer back online and installed before the pirates completely take over. This job is meant to be super top secret and Yeager specifically tells Neeku to not tell anyone and to stop talking so he spends the entire episode with his hands over his mouth (see to the left)--haha! He continues to speak incessantly through his hands. I love him!
So apparently this episode takes place "awhile" from the previous one as Kaz says they rescued and registered Synara "awhile back"...interesting. I wonder how long that actually is and where that leaves us in reference to The Force Awakens at this point. We know this show is going to cross over into the Force Awakens/Last Jedi timeline so I'll definitely be interested to see how that plays out!
They did the suspenseful carryover with the intro music again!! Love it. Strange that that's not consistent though. It just feels a bit haphazard the way they are picking and choosing when to use the typical intro music and when to change it up. Hopefully this will work itself out soon.
A nice plot overall with an extremely odd sub-plot. Kaz introduces Tam to Synara (the unbeknownst to them pirate who was rescued in the previous episode) and Tam goes goo goo ga ga over her, determined that they are good friends. There's nothing that happens except Synara giving Tam an extra part for free that would cause Tam to see them as having any sort of relationship at all. Tam immediately asks Synara to go to lunch with her and then when all hell breaks loose on the platform courtesy of the pirates, Tam rushes to make sure Synara is okay. I really don't get it. Tam up until this point has seemed very distrusting and standoffish of well...really everyone. Why is she suddenly trying to be buddy buddy with someone she barely knows? I'm super confused.
The creepy blue guy was back and was hysterical--he didn't speak, it was just the way he moved that was fabulous...and that weird grin on his face...
One last thought. I won't give everything away, but Synara doesn't actually make any sort of score in this episode so I'm not quite sure what the title is even referring to...odd.
I'm pleased that this episode carried that through line of the pirate attacks and Doza considering the offer by the First Order of protection against the pirates. I'm also pleased that Synara's duplicity was not discovered, leaving us with more time for intrigue and deception to abound. We'll have to wait and see how this through line continues to reveal itself!
