Galaxy's Edge comic #2: Shoot First, Questions Later by Ethan Sacks
"Galaxy's Edge #2: Shoot First, Questions Later" written by Ethan Sacks, illustrated by Will Sliney and Dono Sanchez-Almara
This was a wonderful story!! I am so loving this series so far. I especially enjoy the story within a story format, it really keeps my interest and has me eagerly turning pages to see what happens next. This issue intermingled the main story and the story within the story a couple of times which was quite interesting. And we now know a little bit more about what Remex, Kendoh, and Wooro (in the framing story) are after...a Sith relic!
We open up on Mygeeto with Ki-Adi-Mundi in full battle mode moments before and then during the execution of Order 66. It turns out that Dok-Ondar has his lightsaber as part of his collection.
Then we start off with our framing story and First Order troops grilling Dok-Ondar. He valiantly stands his ground and begins telling the following story about how he came into possession of the aforementioned saber:
On Mygeeto, sometime after the fall of the Republic, Vice Chairman Anolo of the Banking Clan wanted access to the Hutts' smuggling routes. He had a Givin with cybernetic cranial implants (see image below--love getting to see what these guys look like in such a visual format!!) working for him to help him figure out...and recalculate...the odds. The Givin's brain was synced to the Imperial algorithm that generated security codes...and Jabba wanted him too! So, Greedo was sent to kidnap the Givin and bring him back to the Hutt. Greedo's success is...well...not guaranteed. I'll let you read to find out yourself how Greedo's plan goes, but I will say that at the end of the story within a story, Jabba sends Greedo off to complete a simple task of collecting a single bounty...any guesses on whose head this bounty most likely rests?? Love the connection!!
In reference to tie-ins with the actual theme park, we get to see what some of the toys may look like from the vendors there! See images below of ships and plushies that look very similar to glimpses we've seen so far in the media.
Trivia:
- Remex, Kendoh, and Wooro had a botched job on the Moon of Avedot.
- Kendoh is from Serenno! Interesting...and from a family whose fortune was lost...curious.
Super excited about the path this series is taking and it's wonderful to get a bird's eye view into Batuu even though I personally won't be able to experience it for years to come. It's also neat how the titles of each issue so far have applied to the story within a story thus differentiating each issue as it's own piece of the pie. The next issue's story within the story will focus on Hondo!!!! So stoked!! Pumped to see where the framing story is leading us as well.
