Well, this didn't include any extras and skipped a lot! It was still a fun ride to relive the movie with such cute artwork, but overall it fell flat to me. Some moments that could look super cool in a comic book visual format just didn't stand out. I was pretty disappointed with the overall package.
The first 4 pages are dedicated to character studies of both the good guys and bad guys which for the most part are pretty cool and quite informative. But, both Quay Tolsite and Moloch are included yet hardly used in the narrative at all. When I say they skipped things, I really mean it.
I stopped marking spots where skips occurred because there were so many. But some of them include: the entire chase scene on Corellia, the scary introduction of Chewie in the pit, Lando's asking Han where his VCX-100 was, and the Falcon nearly being sucked into the Maw after the coaxium was added to the fuel line (the artwork here was super lackluster as well) among many many more. Instead, narrative boxes were put in to explain the time lapse. I would've rather had a few more pages added to this book for those most important skipped parts as the story just felt wrong and empty without them.
Every time Chewie spoke he either roared, growled, or hrrooo-ed. No mixing up of the noises that he makes. It was really odd that pretty much everything he said was a "hhrrooo" because I can't even hear that as a sound that Chewie would make... I won't ever say anything condescending about the way the Marvel comics write out Chewie's speaking again!!
A couple of extra lines were thrown in--at least I didn't recognize them from the movie--such as Beckett saying, "Only my guy has the intel, 'cause he paid for it" in regards to the coaxium shipment on the train. Also, at the very end, Han says to Chewie as they fly off in the Falcon, "You think everything 'sounds like a bad idea.' That's why I make all the decisions."
Another odd thing, it says the Falcon is in the Fort Ypso Mountain Hangar, but we know from other material that it's in an impound lot...
One super cute thing comes in one of the many boxes that simply narrate what is going on. Right after L3 removes the restraining bolt from one of the droids on Kessel, it says, "Meanwhile, the newly liberated droid puts into practice L3's advice." I love how this describes the beginning of the slave revolt.
After Enfys reveals the unspeakable past acts of Crimson Dawn, there's a panel showing Qi'ra crying!!! (see below) I feel like that's really out of character for her and definitely don't recall it from the movie.
So some good and some bad. If you're looking to relive the full story, leave this one at the store. But if you just want a quick refresher and you love Solo then this may be just what you need. Plus, the artistry is for the most part pretty cool looking.
