Darth Vader comic Annual #2: Technological Terror by Chuck Wendig

"Darth Vader Annual #2: Technological Terror" written by Chuck Wendig, illustrated by Leonard Kirk, Walden Wong, Scott Hanna, and Nolan Woodard
This annual issue takes place after the Burning Seas story arc and before "Bad Ground" and it is a goodie. We get tons of Rogue One awesomeness and see Vader as an inspector of sorts. I thought "technological terror" might refer to Vader, but this story is all about the Death Star...well...it kind of is about both "technological aberrations" which makes the connections all the more sweet.
We start on Scarif where Tarkin makes his way to the data vault and finds Vader already there. Gives me shivers to be on this planet again! Vader's looking to learn more about Project Stardust, but he doesn't have authorization to be there. Interesting that he doesn't know as much as Tarkin. Just goes to show how truly equal the two are in the Emperor's eyes--they each have their own role to play in his Empire.
Ooooh...this interchange between Vader and Tarkin is truly special:
"You are being called to heel. Stand down, Lord Vader. That is a command." - Tarkin
"I am not your beast, governor." - Vader
"Aren't you?" - Tarkin
Only Tarkin would have the nerve to stand up to Vader like that--such a powerful and intense character.
The Emperor puts Tarkin in charge of Vader and sends him to Geonosis to root out treachery in the Death Star construction process. Vader meets up with Krennic once he arrives!! And Krennic is just as sniveling as always, but I love him for it.
Vader enters Petranaki Arena and has a quick flashback of his time there in Attack of the Clones! Loving it.
Loyalty Officer Uddra tells Vader to seek out Galen!! But we know nothing happens to him pre-Rogue One so this sets us up for an even more intriguing story line. I love that Uddra doesn't think Galen can be the saboteur...oh how little she knows.
     Trivia:
-Shah-Tezh is played on a Demesne board.
-Geonosians have been barred from breeding freely because they are a servant species.
I won't say what this in reference to because you should read to find out. But Darth Vader says, "They were animals. So I slaughtered them like animals." Straight from Attack of the Clones!! And we even get a lovely flashback panel of Anakin surrounded by dead Tusken Raiders (see below).
This Annual issue was so good!! There's so much more packed into it and so many more canon connections that I haven't covered here because you have got to go out and read it yourself! I recommend this one 100% even if you haven't been keeping up with the Vader comic series.
