Doctor Aphra comic #24: The Catastrophe Con, Part V by Simon Spurrier

"Doctor Aphra #24: The Catastrophe Con, Part V" written by Simon Spurrier, illustrated by Kev Walker, Marc Deering, and Java Tartaglia
A fine issue that still leaves a number of loose ends. Aphra's not out of the woods yet! But is she ever really?
We start with Accresker Jail continuing its collision course toward Tiferep Major. Sana and Tolvan are both in the escape pod ready to jettison, waiting on Aphra, when she changes the plan and shoots them off without her! But Tolvan makes an escape from the pod because she doesn't want to leave Aphra behind. D'awww. Somehow poor Lopset got forgotten in the whole mess. I feel sorry for the guy being all caught up in Aphra's shenanigans. He's just a sweet shape shifter who wants someone to care about him as a person.
The Force-sensitive hookspores sense focus and honor in Tam Posla when he arrives (I'd forgotten he was their other escape plan)! They know they've found a host... Man these guys are creepy.
Okay, so I must've also forgotten what the plan exactly was from a previous issue because Tolvan and Aphra didn't fly off with Tam. Instead, he left a shuttle for them to use. Which is good because I'm sure it won't be long before Tam discovers Lopset is not actually Evazan!
Oh my goodness!! The main reason Aphra made the deal with Tam in the first place was because she thought it was a possibility the hookspores would seek him out as a host for his being an "honorable idiot" so she could get to the ancient lightsaber. It was always about the artifact. Tolvan calls Aphra an "avaricious worm" in response to this knowledge! Haha...but she still cares for her regardless as she knows that's just who she is. Tolvan goes on to say, "Awful you may be, but I appear to have missed the day they taught romantic judgement at the academy, so I'm stuck with you." Awww! I want to see them kiss again!!! Too bad we get no such action in this issue. But it's obvious they are still a matched pair and I'm loving it.
Poor Tolvan has no idea what she's getting into when 0-0-0 and BT arrive! She says, "There's just some waddling protocol droid humming a tune." He can look so innocent and then in the blink of an eye turn incredibly dangerous! I'm super nervous about what they're going to do to Aphra once they find her.
So many escape plans foiled and they still don't make it off Accresker! But the ending will leave you thinking and definitely wondering how this one is going to work itself out.
