Resistance Season 2: Episode 14 - "The Mutiny"
Resistance Season 2: Episode 14 - "The Mutiny" written by Mairgheard Scott, directed by Bosco Ng
This episode centered around a wonderful canon connection with the inclusion of antique battle droids!! I was sold from the start. But then the plotting was fantastic, Neeku was the backbone of the humor (which is always a blast), and again, things look dire and I was left wondering how in the world everything would work out in the end! This show is really good at putting the viewer on the edge of their seat.
Kragan and some of his pirate crew make an unsanctioned trip away from the Colossus to acquire some weaponry of sorts to help them bring the Colossus under pirate control. What do they purchase?? B2 Super Battle droids!!! And a spunky B1 comes as a freebie along with them!! See the awesome call-back droids below! Sidon Ithano turns out to be the weapons vendor (see image above) and Kragan calls him: You Old Scourge as well as The Crimson Corsair, trying to get into his good graces (I love how, with the print material, we've made this character who was on screen for just a few minutes into basically a legend). Sidon is not fooled, or swayed into giving Kragan a better deal regardless of the B2s being pretty beat up.
Doza surprises the pirates with a visit after their return and declares they are essentially under house arrest as the Colossus is on lockdown...and was before they left... But Kragan has already hidden the goods--attached them to a cable and thrown them out the bay doors into space--so Doza only knows of the cover-up food and supplies the pirate also acquired. Even Synara gets shooed away from the pirate's quarters to go check on the food distribution. Poor woman really doesn't have any place to fit in anymore. Or does she?
...but, perhaps Doza has a better idea of what is actually going on because he sends Neeku to the pirates to "conduct a systems diagnostic check." Unfortunately, Neeku gets pulled in to work on the broken down droids. And in his typical sweet, naïve manner, never doing anything halfway, he does a fantastic job making them fully operational. Has Neeku wholly been duped by the pirates?? Or is he more aware than he's letting on??
I loved that Neeku was able to really shine in this episode...it's essentially his story and his triumph. And that makes me so happy! Also, I definitely hope the B1 droid will be sticking around for the long haul as I can never get enough of these guys! So as I seem to always say, great action, great humor, great fun--this series really does have it all.
