Resistance Season 2: Episode 16 - "No Place Safe"

Resistance Season 2: Episode 16 - "No Place Safe" written by Gavin Hignight, directed by Brad Rau
Uh oh!! With a title like "No Place Safe," I'm definitely concerned about the Colossus' ability to live out a peaceful life on Aeos… In the previous episode, the planet's inhabitants finally realized the ship's crew were good people and allowed them to stay on the planet. They even referenced the Rebels who had built an outpost there years before as honorable and kind, hoping the people of the Colossus will be the same.
So, things definitely go south for both Kaz and the Colossus as the title indicates. This episode was action-packed, funny but not too funny, and so sweetly sad. Will the Colossus and Kaz ever catch a break?? And will Tam be First Order for life??
Kaz has made up his mind to leave the Colossus!! I knew he wouldn't be able to sit out the fight for too long. He contacts Norath (yay! He's still a player!) and confirms that he'll be rendezvousing with the Resistance near Batuu shortly. (I just realized Batuu never made an appearance in The Rise of Skywalker and I'm so baffled...I wonder if it'll make an appearance in this show at some point? Of course we only have a handful of episodes to go before the show is over, much to my disappointment.) In regards to Kaz leaving, Neeku is devastated and Torra is angry! Yeager, sad to see the boy go, gives him the Fireball as a parting gift. So sweet! I nearly teared up with how bittersweet this got--Kaz going off to do what he knows is right, but at the same time leaving his new family behind. *tear*
As he sets off in the Fireball, a First Order probe droid scans him and attacks! The image the First Order gets from the scan?? See above lmfao. After the firefight, Kaz is left in a disabled Fireball with a disabled CB-23, floating dead in space...and the First Order knows of his location near Aeos Prime. Things are looking bad!! The First Order is now on their way to apprehend the Colossus once and for all! Will the Aeosians help the ship escape?? Or will they go into hiding as Doza suggests?? Check out the image below for a hint--I didn't note this in the last review but the Aeosians fly around on giant sea creatures with lots of teeth (super cool species design).
This episode was a pleasant surprise as I was only expecting a release of one. Guess I didn't pay close enough attention to the 2020 Wookieepedia page. It definitely moved the story forward with Tam and her place in the First Order and provided a setback allowing Kaz to continue on with the Colossus another day...therefore leaving room for more episodes yay!! I will admit though, the catastrophe/obstacles leading to the Colossus taking jump after jump into hyperspace, narrowly escaping the First Order is getting a little stale. I loved how they did the Norath storyline on Varkana because a wonderful new character was introduced and the escaping was more from a fascinating bounty hunter than the First Order. And the pirate mutiny episode was different entirely from the usual plot. Regardless, something has to give as this is turning into an animated "Battlestar Galactica" a.k.a. "The Cylons are coming! The Cylons are coming!"...escape >> "The Cylons are coming! The Cylons are coming!...escape >> and on...and on. Here's hoping we get some awesome fresh new story in the next set of episodes!!
