Resistance Season 2: Episode 17 - "Rebuilding the Resistance"

Resistance Season 2: Episode 17 - "Rebuilding the Resistance" written by Jennifer Corbett, directed by Bosco Ng
This episode included not much humor and not much plot for that matter. Regardless, it skyrocketed the story forward in a big way. Hardly anything happened, but even that little bit was monumental for our main characters. Crazy--and has me really looking forward to the kinds of stories we're going to get as this series closes down.
Torra's mom is back! Venisa Doza and a squadron of Resistance X-wings (Jade Squadron) land on the Colossus with Captain Doza himself announcing the giant ship is going to be helping out the Resistance with a mission...Kaz couldn't be happier (see his determined and confident gaze above). Three shuttles of Resistance recruits are waiting on Dantooine for a rescue as the planet has come under control of the First Order. Torra, Kaz, and Hype volunteer to help out with the operation. Will the three Aces and Jade Squadron be able to successfully courier all three shuttles to safety?? Or will the First Order make the mission a failure?? Check out the images of the Aces, Jade Squadron, and Dantooine as well as the three shuttles full of recruits below.
One thing I'm confused about is that the First Order is not actually occupying the planet. I mean, I guess there's a blockade of TIEs (where is their Star Destroyer?), but that's about it. A Star Destroyer only shows up after most of the blockading TIEs have been destroyed and Resistance activity is blamed (this happens through data transmission from afar). So I guess it was just that the shuttles couldn't get out because the First Order was preventing ALL ships from leaving orbit?? Okay, I am thinking WAY too deeply about this...
The most profound part of this episode was Kaz learning about the realities of war. To him it's been this big adventure that involves good and evil and heroic acts. Besides watching the Hosnian system get destroyed through hologram (which honestly was a moment that had me sobbing he seemed to feel so much pain), he's never seen any true death and destruction up close and personal. When he does, he's shaken. He has shot down TIEs before but I think to him those TIEs aren't people and are instead just arms of the big bad monster. I wonder if this new reality of war will affect his happy-go-lucky attitude in the episodes to come as the show draws to a close...
And then we of course have Tam trying to figure out where in the world she belongs and what in the world she actually believes in. Without any real effort on her part, she even becomes Squadron Commander! She's moving up in the ranks of the First Order and still doesn't truly buy in to their cause. I wonder if we're going to see her flip her story by the end of the series?? I honestly thought at one point in this episode that she was going to defect and try to run away with the Aces and the Resistance, but no such luck. She hobbled back defeated to the First Order Star Destroyer...and got a promotion of all things! Poor confused girl.
Now that Captain Doza has pledged his ship and people to the fight, there's no telling what's going to happen from here on out. I absolutely cannot wait for this story to continue!!
