The Mandalorian Season 1: Episode 2: "Chapter 2: The Child"

The Mandalorian Season 1: Episode 2: "Chapter 2: The Child" written by Jon Favreau, directed by Rick Famuyiwa
While seemingly not as epic as the first episode, I still really enjoyed "Chapter 2." It had humor, action, dangerous situations, and left me still wondering what in the world planet we are on??? I have to say, I did not expect this series to have as much humor as it does! I am blown away with how funny it is while at the same time definitely being gritty...
Since we're on to Chapter 2, I'll go ahead and reveal the HUGE spoiler at the end of last episode...the Mandalorian's bounty was a baby Unknown!!! YES!!! A baby of the same species as Yoda!!! And I've seen pictures floating around showing that the Imperial scientist from the first episode's uniform bore the symbol of the Kaminoan cloning facility...so could it be a clone of Yoda?!? Only time will tell...
This felt like more of a side story episode with the Mandalorian contending with Jawas over parts they scavenged from his ship, but there was a pretty awesome occurrence of the baby Unknown using the Force (detailed below).
First off, I want to say that I don't know what kind of gun the Mandalorian has, but it's scary as crap!! It can disintegrate whatever it hits as was shown when it hit both a Trandoshan and a few Jawas. (See above--yeah, that's a Jawa's cloak left behind after the Jawa inside it was disintegrated...wonder if this is similar to Darth Vader telling Boba Fett, "No disintegrations"...)
As mentioned above, a whole hoard of Jawas, with a sandcrawler, attacks the Razorcrest (but is that really the ship's name?? or just the ship's model?? I was pretty darn confused after the blue fish guy from last episode called the ship "a Razorcrest") and destroys it by scavenging all the most useful parts. Let me stop and ponder here for a second...we know that Jawas use sandcrawlers because they are left over from people thinking that mining would be a great idea on Tatooine. There's no indication that sandcrawlers were used on any other planet...much less this many Jawas being on any other planet. Does that mean the baby was found on Tatooine??? Regardless, the Mando is left to walk the baby back to Nick Nolte's Ugnaught character, Kuiil, where he asks for the man's help. They both ride off to the Jawas, seeking to exchange something for release of the Mando's ship's parts.
At one point, after the Mando attempts some Jawa-ese, one of the Jawas proclaims, "You speak terrible Jawa. You sound like a Wookiee." Haha! And this isn't the only time the Jawas provide a bit of excellent humor to the episode. Turns out, the scavengers are willing to trade the Mandalorian's parts back to him in exchange for "The Egg," two words they repeat over and over again in Jawa-ese...another hilarious addition to this show!!
"The Egg" ends up being from a beast (see below) with a super long and scary horn living in a cave in the middle of the desert. Not sure how the Mando figured out what "The Egg" meant or even where to go to find it...but find it he did! And in the midst of a battle of wills between the beast and the Mando, the baby Unknown reaches out with the Force and causes the beast to hover in the air in front of the Mando, not harming him and allowing him to attack with a small knife. So...the baby Unknown is a Force-user!!! Could it be that this really is a baby clone Yoda?!?! I am so sold on this show and cannot wait to get the dirt on what in the world is going on!
In conclusion, this episode felt way too short to me and a bit too side story, but it revealed the Force powers of the baby and that was definitely enough to get my brain churning. Super excited for what comes next Friday!! Until then, I may just watch that first episode a couple times more to satiate my excitement.
