Doctor Aphra comic #12: The Enormous Profit, Part IV
"Doctor Aphra 12: The Enormous Profit, Part IV", written by Kieron Gillen, illustrated by Kev Walker, Marc Deering, and Antonio Fabela
I love Dr. Aphra and have been so excited about this ongoing series featuring her as the main character. This issue did not disappoint. While we don't get the confrontation between Vader and Aphra I expected, we do get some deviously underhanded actions by 000 and BT which is always fun to read. Check out the two murder droids in their full glory below.
Unfortunately, things got a bit confusing since I knew they were on a space station, but then suddenly they were in a garden that looked like it was outside on a planet. That I did not understand. And they talked about "the base" and "domes," both of which left me confused as to what was going on. This whole issue occurs on a space station where Aphra held an auction for the ancient Rur artifact. So how the imagery showing and the language describing the location changed so drastically, I don't know. But it was a fun read nonetheless.
Synopsis: 000 and BT demand their freedom from Aphra. Krrsantan gets his revenge on the Xonti brothers. And Aphra finds herself once again in the position of being able to play hero. How will she do this? Maybe Rur can help...
As always, Aphra finds herself in some tough situations and how she gets out of these tight spots is always a pleasure to read. She is definitely one intelligent, quick-witted, badass. And I love watching her in action.
This issue ends with the beginning of a showdown between Rur and Vader - something I'm definitely excited to see play out. And according to the synopsis for the next issue, we may just get that surprise confrontation between Vader and Aphra. I can't wait to see how he reacts to her not being dead!
