Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu comic #2

"Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu #2" written by Matt Owens, illustrated by Denys Cowan, Roberto Poggi, and Guru-eFX
The second issue of this short run series absolutely delivered. We get non-stop action the entire issue and hardly any discussion of the moral implications of war. Mace Windu is in his finest form as he leads his Jedi squad against a battalion of Separatist droids.
We see a fascinating symbiotic culture between the Hissrich natives and the glowing plant life that manifests underground in large interconnected caverns. And we learn the reason behind the Separatists' desire for this planet - one I thought was ingenious and quite fascinating. I wonder if it's possible to replicate such a feat in real life? I'll let you be surprised by the reason...it's pretty cool. We also find out that Mace Windu's homeworld is Haruun Kal.
AD-W4, the mercenary droid who heads up the Separatist army on Hissrich leads his soldiers into battle against the Jedi and takes on Mace Windu himself. In a very poignant conversation, this exchange occurs: "The just do not have a need to hire mercenaries." - Mace Windu, "No, they simply grow them themselves." - AD-W4. What a powerful statement, and although the Jedi do not fight for credits as does AD-W4, I can see what he's saying. The Jedi have definitely turned against their primary mandate in fighting as they do and have become a sort of mercenary force outside the rule of law and order.
My only concern was Mace Windu's lack of respect towards Kit Fisto. I get that Mace is the lead on this particular mission, but if Kit calls him master, why can't Mace call Kit master? Weird... Regardless, this was a great issue with some really interesting surprises and I'm definitely excited to read on! Plus, the B1 battle droids continue to be humorous as ever ;-)
